Hello, this is Baek Mun-jo.
It feels like just yesterday I was wrapping up my year-end tax write-up for 2018, and now we’re already racing through February... wow!
And, the Lunar New Year holiday, which felt quite long this time, is almost over too...
Although it's late, I want to wish all my readers who visit my blog a Happy New Year. I hope this year is filled with joy and free from troubles.
Now, let’s get started with today’s post!
I have a pile of delivery boxes stacked behind me, which is a bit of a nuisance, but haha!
Whenever I receive a package, it always brings a thrill... +_+
Today, I will review a dashboard cover that is currently available for sale at the link below. Honestly, I have wanted to install a dashboard cover to protect against the summer heat for a while, and I’m finally getting around to it.
The DUB dashboard cover, sold on the Bontoroad website, comes in two materials: velvet and leather.
I opted for the velvet material. In the case of the Tucson, the entire dashboard consists of plastic, so I felt that leather wouldn’t harmonize well.
While you might think that the velvet material can show dust and other white particles easily, it actually helps a lot with vehicle maintenance compared to the old method of wiping the dashboard with a towel. You can simply shake off the dust instead.^^
The material is incredibly soft. It doesn’t feel stiff at all.
The “DUB edition” lettering located on the passenger side appears in white and is not tacky, fitting nicely in size.
I chose a basic black base with a wine-colored trim for a pop of color.
Red tones can sometimes come off as tacky, but the Bontoroad DUB velvet dashboard cover actually gives a luxurious feel.
Now, I’ll head to my car and clear off the items on top of the existing dashboard for installation.
If your vehicle has aftermarket rear sensor monitors like mine, you can gently pry them off using a tool like a spatula and twist them off.
These were attached when the vehicle was delivered in 2007, and they came off easily. If there are sticker marks left behind, you can remove them by dampening a cloth with sticker remover and wiping them clean. ^^
When you buy the Bontoroad dashboard cover, it comes with cleaning wipes, so make sure to give the entire area a good wipe before installation.
The dashboard receives the most UV exposure in the vehicle’s interior.
Even a brief outdoor parking during summer can expose it to immense heat, and in winter, it receives even stronger UV rays.
Due to a lack of continuous maintenance, over time it can turn white and discolor.
Of course, if you install high-quality window tinting, it can make a difference, but in the case of our vehicle, which has cheap film installed, it has already started to discolor a bit...
Let’s protect the dashboard with a cover as soon as possible...ㅠㅠㅠ
The installation method is incredibly simple.
Unlike other products that require sticky strips for installation, the Bontoroad DUB dashboard cover simply lays down like a carpet. ^^
In fact, the back has an anti-slip pad, so there’s no need to worry about it sliding around.
With the steering wheel cover and dashboard cover, I’ve completed the red accents in my car.^^;
This product is custom-made for the first-generation Tucson, so it fits perfectly. There are no mismatched areas.
Due to the product's characteristics, it has some thickness, and it arrived rolled up during shipping, so after installation, there was a temporary lifting effect. However, after a while, it settled down nicely. ^^
Not only that, but the dashboard also has auto-light sensors and air conditioning vents, and covering these areas could cause issues. Fortunately, the cover has precise cutouts for all related functions, and I confirmed that everything works without any problems.
I’ve been using the dashboard cover for just over two weeks now, and I still find myself petting it every time I get in the car... lol. I like everything about it, but I especially love the material.
If you want to add a touch to your vehicle or have struggled with dashboard maintenance, or if your dashboard is in poor condition and has been bothering you, I highly recommend this product.
Although it’s not the cheapest option, after using it for just over two weeks, I believe it offers great value for the price. ^^
That wraps up today’s post. Thank you for reading.
