Chevrolet Colorado Test Drive
It has become much more impressive, especially with the front design... The Chevrolet Colorado, already known for its bold look, has undergone a minor change under the nickname REAL NEW, significantly altering the front grille and lower bumper, making it even bolder!
Right?
It somewhat resembles the large pickup Silverado at first glance...
In the unfamiliar genre of pickup trucks, at least in the domestic market, I can confidently say that the design stands out as the best option available, unlike the ambiguous variations seen in models like the Rexton or Korando.
Now, let’s examine how the new Colorado differs from its predecessor. Just by looking at the comparison photo above, we can conclude this test drive. The left side shows the new model, and the right side shows the old one. The differences are clear, right?
The most significant change is undoubtedly the radiator grille. The three-dimensional details enhance its presence, and the matte black color adds to its boldness. You’ll also notice the Z71 emblem, which highlights its off-road driving capabilities.
Additionally, the horizontal bar and fog light cover at the bumper and grille boundary feature black accents. While these elements may not stand out due to the black body, they are new details introduced in the Colorado facelift.
The newly applied 17-inch alloy wheels offer a sportier feel than before. Personally, I found the black wheels from the Midnight Special Edition, seen during the Colorado facelift launch event, to be even more impressive.
Indeed, a pickup truck in black... Its presence is undeniable, right?
However, despite the facelift, I still feel disappointed that it retains the yellow projection-type headlights. These days, even domestic compact cars don’t feature such lamps...
While one might excuse the lack of an engine start button in favor of a manual key specification as a nod to the American pickup truck sentiment, I wonder if the yellow lamps could have received more consideration from the domestic product team.
In addition, the trunk back design, which has replaced the bowtie emblem with lettering, gives a retro feel and represents a successful change. The silver trim decoration on the rear bumper has also been changed to black.
The cargo area can serve various storage purposes as needed.
This wraps up the exterior changes of the Chevrolet REAL NEW Colorado facelift...
The interior remains unchanged.
The simplicity or ruggedness typical of American cars remains intact!
However, I want to give high marks for the driving performance... Contrary to the preconceived notion that trucks are uncomfortable, the Colorado surprised me with its surprisingly comfortable ride. The 3.6-liter V6 gasoline direct-injection engine offers smooth revs and a generous output of 312 horsepower, easily offsetting the downside of a combined fuel economy of only 8.1 km per liter.
Thanks to this, I experienced no discomfort while driving the Chevrolet Colorado on a long-distance trip to a golf course near Seoul.
When compared to most imported large SUVs, the Colorado holds its own visually... The black presence, along with an enormous trunk space!
