Cheongju TAEJEBE CC
Cheongju TAEJEBE CC
Cheongju TAEJEBE CC, located just an hour and a half from the metropolitan area, offers an affordable green fee and an enjoyable course layout. After the all-day management system was implemented, the overall condition of the course improved significantly, leading to high satisfaction among golfers. I recently visited Cheongju TAEJEBE CC.
Cheongju TAEJEBE CC, a prestigious golf course, boasts a long history and 36 holes that offer a fresh experience each time you visit. I checked my last round record and realized I visited in October of last year. By the way, I departed from Pangyo in Bundang, and it took exactly 1 hour and 25 minutes to get there, even on a Monday morning.
All-Day group golf courses have a unique feature: you don't need to search for nearby restaurants. The restaurant offers a well-prepared menu at reasonable prices, ensuring high satisfaction among guests.
I recommend the Jangteo Gukbap (soup with rice). Both the main restaurant and the snack bar operate on a prepaid basis, making payment straightforward. Typically, at golf courses, you check your tee time and pay afterward, but All-Day group golf courses, including TAEJEBE CC, eliminate this hassle.
After finishing the front nine, I enjoyed tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) at the snack bar, Cafe Buena Vista, which is one of my favorite dishes. The view from there is also quite nice.
Interestingly, the entrance to the snack bar is located in the basement of the starter house. Although it's not technically the ground floor, the clubhouse is so tall that it feels like you're going up to an observation deck at the golf course.
Recently, public golf courses near Seoul have been charging high green fees despite poor course conditions and greens. However, the All-Day golf courses in Cheongju and Chungju maintain good conditions even with their nighttime operations.
The greens run at about 2.5, which is not particularly fast, but they are well-maintained with two greens, ensuring good ball movement without erratic bounces.
Thanks to this, I managed to score four birdies, finishing with a final score of two under par. My personal best is three under par, and I was so nervous thinking I might break it that day!
TAEJEBE CC generally has a shorter course length and spacious fairways, reducing the pressure on tee shots. This likely contributed to my good score. Even if mistakes happen, the local rule states there are no OBs on the course, and the hazard penalties apply, allowing you to focus and save par or limit it to a bogey.
Occasionally, there are holes where you can challenge for an eagle if you're confident in your tee shot accuracy. Some people say the TAEJEBE CC course is difficult, but I don’t see it that way. Overall, I found it to be quite comfortable!
However, you can also strategize by breaking up the shots or boldly aiming left or right on par 5 holes to take a chance at reaching the green in two.
I narrowly missed an eagle here but still finished with a birdie. By the way, the four courses at TAEJEBE CC each have their own characteristics. The East and South courses feature spacious fairways where you can swing freely.
The West and North courses have dogleg holes, so it’s best to strategize your approach.
Surrounded by beautiful Metasequoia trees, the landscaping is delightful. If I had more time, I would have started early in the morning and played an additional 18 holes for a total of 36 holes that day.
The pleasant weather, beautiful course, and well-maintained grass conditions all contribute to a great score.
Because the greens are maintained with two greens, they receive the ball well, and the surrounding grass is also in good condition, making approach shots comfortable. Occasionally, you might find a ball on bare ground without grass, which can lead to unexpected top shots!
I had a wonderful time at Cheongju TAEJEBE CC, and this concludes my review.
