Lately, I’ve been so busy that I can barely manage to wash my car once every month or two.
Still, when I do wash my car, I usually spend at least 4 to 5 hours on it.
I didn’t think I would be like this, but as I navigate my busy life, car maintenance naturally takes a backseat. Self-car washing is one thing, but even the engine oil change, which I used to do religiously every 5,000 km, often gets delayed now.
However, I realize that consistent car maintenance is crucial for safe driving. I have a business trip coming up that requires me to use my car, so...
I decided to change the engine oil and check my vehicle before the trip.
I always seem to wash my car before visiting the service center for maintenance. I believe that if my car looks clean, the staff will be more careful with scratches and other details.
On my way home from work, I quickly used a pressure washer and foam gun to remove some light dust.
Unlike the AutoQ I usually go to, I switched to one closer to my workplace.
Ultimately, since AutoQ operates as a franchise, the level of service and the skills of the technicians can vary greatly from one location to another.
However, I feel that getting car maintenance done at a larger facility is generally better than at a smaller one.
I’m quite satisfied with the new place and plan to continue using it in the future.
Next time I change the engine oil, I also plan to replace the DCT gear oil.

With the weather warming up, I decided to visit a local car wash for an intense self-car wash.
I frequently use this car wash because it’s the closest to my home, but since the owner changed, I feel the management has declined a bit. Especially in the drying area, the strong smell of fertilizer from the nearby field is quite unpleasant.
Many older individuals in the neighborhood also come here, which sometimes leads to a lack of etiquette regarding things like cigarette smoke and the use of air guns.
I’m personally considering switching to a different location.
The reason I spend more time on self-car washes than others is that I tend to be meticulous, even about areas that might not seem necessary.
A shiny finish allows me to clean my black wheels thoroughly.
I also need to ensure my aluminum brake calipers are spotless.
Dust and dirt inside the wheel wells must be removed to maintain the impressive appearance of my SUV.
Recently, I parked my car in the workplace parking lot, and someone accidentally hit my front bumper while throwing trash into a regular garbage can. People should act carefully to avoid touching others’ belongings.
It’s disappointing that there seems to be a stereotype that people who take care of their belongings are overly sensitive.
Fortunately, the mark was minor and came off easily with a little paint cleaner.
I used my DeWalt cordless polisher to tidy up the paint surface.
Using the polisher after a long time was enjoyable. Self-car washing should be a fun challenge of addressing accumulated dirt and scratches.
I had forgotten how satisfying this could be since my car has many areas with PPF installed.
I heard that there’s a special compound called “Gyeongon Quartz Renew” for areas treated with PPF, but it’s currently out of production. When I tried to order it, it was sold out.
Next time, I plan to polish the PPF areas while also removing water spots.
This time, I used paint cleaner to tidy up only the painted surfaces. I’m really pleased with the clear shine that emerged.
For future paint protection, I also applied a coating using a quick detailer.
I think about getting a black car next time, but part of me believes gray is the best color.
I applied a special coating to the wheels and did the same for the tires, giving them a shiny appearance. I believe that true car washing isn’t just about cleaning; it’s about achieving perfect coating too. :)
Self-car washing can be physically exhausting, but sipping on a drink while admiring my car brings me great satisfaction.
I’ve had my car for 4 years and 5 months now. I think it’s in decent condition compared to cars that have been on the road for only a few months.
I’ve enjoyed various DIY projects and have made many modifications without significant issues.
Looking at my shiny car gives me a sense of pride. ^^
I always park in the safest spot in the underground garage to avoid door dings.
Even after cleaning it so well, my car inevitably gets dirty during my daily commutes. But I remind myself that cars are meant to be driven.

As always, self-car washing provides a sense of accomplishment, but preparing to go can be bothersome, and the fatigue afterward can be overwhelming.
I even remember suffering from a cold the next day after a long wash. ㅠㅠ;;
