Volvo has unveiled its next-generation electric flagship sedan, the ES90. This expansion of Volvo's pure electric flagship lineup follows the all-electric EX90. The ES90 features dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin processors, delivering an eight-fold increase in core computing performance compared to the previous generation.
For the first time in the brand's history, Volvo has implemented 800-volt technology, enabling a driving range of up to 435 miles (700 km) on a single charge according to WLTP standards. With 350kW ultra-fast charging, drivers can add 186 miles (300 km) of range in just 10 minutes.
The ES90 is equipped with one LiDAR, five radars, seven cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. It also features cutting-edge safety technologies, including a driver understanding system.
Volvo states that the ES90 combines the most advanced technology with Scandinavian design and ultimate comfort. Alongside the EX90, it will establish itself as one of the next-generation flagship lineup, solidifying Volvo's leadership in the software-defined vehicle (SDV) industry.
The front of the Volvo ES90 features a modern interpretation of the iconic Thor's hammer headlight design. The rear showcases new C-shaped LED taillights and a rear window lamp.
The ES90 can create welcome and farewell light sequences. It offers seven exterior colors and four wheel options ranging from 20 to 22 inches. The trunk space is up to 15 cubic feet (424 liters), expandable to 25.9 cubic feet (733 liters) with the rear seats folded. There's also a 0.8 cubic foot (22 liter) frunk for storing small items like charging cables.
The interior of the ES90 embodies Volvo's Scandinavian design philosophy. With a long wheelbase of 10.2 feet (3.1 m), it provides ample legroom for rear passengers, ensuring superior ride comfort.
A panoramic sunroof that blocks 99.9% of UV rays comes as standard, with an optional electrochromic panoramic sunroof that allows transparency adjustment at the touch of a button.
The top-tier trim features a new high-fidelity system by Bowers & Wilkins, comprising 25 independent high-performance speakers and Dolby Atmos spatial audio technology, delivering a premium sound experience.
The ES90 comes standard with Google's next-generation infotainment system, featuring a 9-inch driver display and head-up display supporting 5G communication technology. It operates on Qualcomm Technologies' Snapdragon Cockpit Platform.
Users can access third-party apps through Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play. For the Korean market, connectivity developed in collaboration with TMAP Mobility will be installed. The center screen display features a 14.5-inch navigation entertainment system with 3D view functionality.
Volvo plans to launch the ES90 simultaneously in Sweden, Germany, Belgium, and other countries. The release date, options, and pricing for the Korean market are yet to be determined.
