The official driving range of the F-150 Lightning, set to be released by Ford, has reportedly been leaked. The range varies depending on the trim and battery capacity, with the maximum range being 230 to 320 miles (370 to 515 km) according to the US EPA standards.

According to foreign media, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is expected to be sold in Pro, Lariat, and Platinum trims, with the Pro trim featuring an expanded battery capacity compared to the standard battery.

The driving range for each trim is 230 miles (approximately 370 km) for the standard Pro, 320 miles (approximately 515 km) for the Pro with an expanded battery and the Lariat, and 300 miles (approximately 482 km) for the top-tier Platinum trim.

This aligns with the expected driving range announced by Ford, with some trims reportedly achieving an additional 20 miles (approximately 32 km). Charging is supported by home charging systems and 150 kW DC fast charging systems.

Using a fast charger, it takes approximately 41 minutes to charge the battery from 15% to 80%. The 2022 F-150 Lightning can also supply power to the outside, similar to the V2L function, providing up to 9.6 kWh of power when the battery is fully charged.

The F-150 Lightning is an all-wheel-drive electric pickup truck equipped with two motors. The top-tier Platinum trim boasts a maximum output of 563 horsepower and a peak torque of 1,071 kgf·m. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds, with a maximum payload capacity of 2,000 lbs and a maximum towing capacity of 4.5 tons. It offers the same driving convenience features as the internal combustion engine F-150.

The onboard scale measures the load weight and calculates the driving range. The Pro Trailer Hitch Assist helps to easily tow trailers. The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning starts at $39,974 (approximately 45.1 million KRW) and the top-tier Platinum trim reaches up to $98,774. The domestic release date is yet to be determined.

Recently, Ford announced its European business plan. By 2024, seven new pure electric cars and four commercial vehicles will be produced in Europe. Three passenger cars will be produced in Germany and Romania. The all-new electric crossover, the new electric passenger car, will be produced in Cologne, Germany, starting in 2023.

The second electric car is also planned to be produced in Cologne, Germany, starting in 2024. The electric version of the Ford Puma will be produced in Craiova, Romania, and will be unveiled in 2024. The only electric car Ford has launched in Europe so far is the Mach-E series. The E-Transit is expected to be released in the second quarter of this year, making a total of nine electric car lineups.

Ford sources its batteries from SK On, and to facilitate this, SK On has established a joint venture with Ford and Turkish company Koc, a large Turkish company. They plan to build a battery factory with a capacity of 30 to 45 GWh near Ankara, Turkey.
