Audi announced its latest models at the 2021 Auto Shanghai on the 19th. The company unveiled four world premiere models in collaboration with FAW and SAIC.
The four models include Audi's A6 e-tron concept car, the new Audi Q5L, and the A7L from SAIC Audi, along with an SUV study model from Audi Concept Shanghai. Among these, the Audi A6 e-tron concept car particularly caught our attention.
The Audi A6 e-tron concept car is an electric vehicle built on the PPE platform, which is dedicated to electric cars. It features a sportback design with a length of 16.3 feet (4.96 m).
The battery capacity stands at 100 kWh. A larger battery capacity typically translates to a longer driving range, and Audi has announced that the driving range for the e-tron concept car exceeds 434 miles (700 km) based on WLTP standards.
While the release date remains undecided, production will begin in Europe and China before the global rollout. KawaU predicts the launch will occur in 2023, estimating the price to be around £70,000 (approximately $86,000 USD).
Car & Drive speculates that the price will be similar to the Tesla Model S, estimating the premium version to start at about $80,000, the Premium Plus at $90,000, and the Prestige at $100,000.
The car can charge rapidly with 800V technology, allowing it to recharge enough energy for a 186-mile (300 km) drive in under 10 minutes.
At fast charging stations, the vehicle can charge at a maximum of 270 kW. It reportedly takes less than 25 minutes to charge the 100 kWh battery from 5% to 80%.
The length of the A6 e-tron concept car measures 16.3 feet (4.96 m).
The width is 6.4 feet (1.96 m) and the height is 4.7 feet (1.44 m), featuring a sportback design.
The vehicle is expected to reach 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in under 4 seconds.
The AWD model boasts a maximum output of 350 kW and a peak torque of 590 lb-ft (800 Nm).
The Audi A6 e-tron concept car clearly distinguishes itself from existing Audi electric vehicles.
It retains the unique electric vehicle front grille and features futuristic sedan elements, such as the headlights and four-door coupe design. While details about the interior layout and aesthetics have not been disclosed, we can expect that Audi's design and lighting will be impressively executed.
