Toyota reports that the Tesla Model Y is currently competing with the Japanese automaker's compact SUV, the Toyota RAV4, for the title of best-selling car in the United States this year. While the Model Y has earned the title of global best-selling car, it recorded a 2.80% market share in the U.S. for the first half of the year, placing it second among local best-sellers.
Toyota has stated that the final rankings will be determined based on sales in the second half of the year. Tesla is promoting incentive benefits, while Toyota has launched a plug-in hybrid version of the RAV4.
