InterBattery 2022 has opened at COEX in Seoul. The participating companies include South Korea's big three battery manufacturers: SK On, LG Energy Solution, and Samsung SDI. Each company also showcased electric vehicles they are collaborating on.

LG Energy Solution displayed the Hummer EV and Tesla, Samsung SDI showcased the BMW iX and i4, while SK On exhibited the GV60, Mercedes-Benz EQA, and Ferrari SF90 Spider, turning the event into a mini auto show.

The Ferrari SF90, in particular, caught visitors' attention as a performance-focused supercar rather than a mainstream electric vehicle. SK has been supplying batteries to Ferrari since 2019. Ferrari, one of the world's top three supercar manufacturers, chose SK Innovation as the battery supplier for its first mass-produced electric car. SK Innovation was selected to supply batteries for the SF90 Stradale, Ferrari's first mass-produced plug-in hybrid (PHEV) supercar in the brand's history. Ferrari made this decision after two and a half years of validation. The vehicle on display at this event is the Ferrari SF90 Spider.

The Spider is known as the convertible version of the Stradale. It's a convertible plug-in hybrid supercar. Its maximum output reaches an impressive 1,000 horsepower. The SF90 Spider maintains the Stradale's performance, innovation, and records while adding a retractable hardtop, allowing drivers to experience the thrill of supercar driving in open-air conditions.

The SF90 Spider features a hybrid system combining three electric motors and a V8 turbo engine, with a power control system managed through eManettino. It incorporates vehicle motion control technologies like eSCC and applies aerodynamic techniques to increase downforce and efficiency.

The SF90 Spider is said to be the most powerful production hybrid supercar. The V8 turbo engine produces a maximum output of 780 horsepower. Combined with three electric motors totaling 220 horsepower, it delivers an integrated output of 1,000 horsepower. Two RAC-e motors are located on the front axle, while the F1 technology-based MGUK electric motor is positioned between the engine and transmission.

The power is precisely distributed according to driving conditions. Drivers can select their desired mode using the eManettino on the left side of the steering wheel. All-wheel drive has been adopted to control the powerful performance of the hybrid powertrain.

The chassis and body incorporate high-performance materials such as carbon fiber. The center of gravity is positioned low to achieve maximum performance. The car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds and reaches 124 mph (200 km/h) in only 7 seconds.

The SF90 Spider maintains the lines and proportions of the Stradale. It's designed to showcase the V8 engine whether the hardtop is open or closed. The interior features a full digital 16-inch curved HD screen, and the steering wheel is equipped with a touchpad, allowing drivers to control most functions without taking their hands off the wheel, thanks to an advanced HMI implementation.

Ferrari's traditional manual gearshift has been replaced with a gate-style gear lever. The retractable hardtop, featuring Ferrari's patented technology, can be opened or closed in just 14 seconds, even while driving.
