Renault Korea has launched a new trim of the Renault Arkana Hybrid E-Tech, adding an Alpine style. The 2026 Renault Arkana Hybrid E-Tech has introduced the new Esprit Alpine trim.
The Arkana Hybrid operates with a combination of a 1.6-liter gasoline engine and two motors, creating a hybrid power system. It features a clutchless multi-mode gearbox that combines a two-speed electric motor and a four-speed engine transmission, providing smooth and responsive shifting while ensuring high energy efficiency and dynamic driving performance.
The dog clutch system, commonly used in Formula 1 vehicles, engages gears directly during shifting, allowing drivers to experience the direct feel and dynamic operation typical of racing cars.
To offset the drawbacks of the dog clutch, which can cause significant shock during gear changes, the Arkana Hybrid utilizes both a starter motor and a driving motor. This design allows each gear to engage simultaneously while reducing the impact during shifting.
The Arkana Hybrid excels in fuel efficiency by utilizing series, parallel, and series-parallel hybrid modes depending on driving conditions. It has received official fuel efficiency ratings of 17.5 km/L (41.2 mpg) in the city, 17.3 km/L (40.7 mpg) on the highway, and 17.4 km/L (40.9 mpg) combined, with actual usage reportedly exceeding these figures.
The 2026 Renault Arkana adds a sporty touch with the new Esprit Alpine trim.
The newly added Esprit Alpine trim for the Arkana Hybrid E-Tech features a satin urban gray exterior color, exclusive side embellishments, a satin gray F1 blade bumper, and 18-inch dynamic black two-tone dark-tinted alloy wheels.
The rear spoiler comes standard, while the front seats feature suede upholstery with blue stitching, symbolizing Alpine.
The price for the 2026 Arkana Hybrid, after applying eco-friendly vehicle tax benefits and reductions in individual consumption tax, starts at 28,499,000 KRW (approximately $21,550 USD) for the Techno trim, 32,139,000 KRW (around $24,300 USD) for the Iconic, and 34,019,000 KRW (about $25,800 USD) for the Esprit Alpine. The Techno and Iconic trims offer improved price competitiveness compared to the 2025 model.
