Tesla has launched a refreshed version of its global best-selling Model Y, intensifying competition in the electric SUV market. The new Model Y, also known as Juniper, comes in two trims: a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) and a dual-motor long-range all-wheel drive (AWD).

The Model Y Juniper RWD, equipped with a 62.1 kWh battery, offers a driving range of 400 kilometers (approximately 248.5 miles) on a single charge, achieving an efficiency of 5.6 km/kWh.

The Model Y Juniper long-range AWD features an 81.6 kWh battery, providing a maximum driving range of 476 kilometers (around 295.5 miles) and an efficiency of 5.4 km/kWh, showcasing Tesla's reliable and high-performance AWD capabilities. The new Model Y RWD is priced at 52.99 million won (approximately $39,700), while the long-range AWD is priced at 63.14 million won (around $47,600).

The domestic market sees competition from Polestar’s first coupe-style SUV, the Polestar 4. Currently, the Polestar 4 features a 100 kWh battery and offers two trims: single-motor and dual-motor long-range.

The dual-motor model offers an impressive driving range of 590 kilometers (approximately 366.5 miles) based on domestic certification standards, making it the longest range among electric SUVs in Korea on a single charge. The single motor also provides a maximum range of 511 kilometers (about 317.5 miles). The Polestar 4 is priced at 66.9 million won (around $50,400) for the long-range single motor and 71.9 million won (approximately $54,000) for the long-range dual motor.

Meanwhile, Volvo plans to launch the EX60 model in 2026. Given its size, it appears to be the electric version of the XC60. The EX60 will be the first model to utilize Volvo's new expanded architecture, SPA3, which is an improved version of the SPA2 used in the EX90.

The Volvo EX60 is expected to provide a driving range in the mid-600 kilometers (around 373 miles). Additionally, the new BMW iX3 and the new Mercedes-Benz GLC electric vehicle are also set to launch, further expanding consumer choices in the imported electric SUV market.
