KG Mobility (KGM) announced a partnership with China's Chery Automobile to jointly develop mid-to-large SUVs and continue technological cooperation for the future growth of both companies. This strategic partnership and platform licensing agreement will enable practical collaboration between KGM and Chery to develop mid-to-large SUVs for both domestic and global markets, as well as cooperate in various areas of future mobility companies, including driving and SDV-based E/E architecture.

KGM aims to accelerate the development of a mid-to-large SUV that carries on the legacy and reputation of the Rexton through this collaboration. Currently, the project is known as SE-10, with plans to complete development by 2026. Following that, the company plans to finalize the model's launch schedule based on market conditions.

KGM plans to introduce derivative models targeting niche markets by expanding its lineup to include not only internal combustion engines but also eco-friendly options, leveraging its global platform in collaboration with Chery Automobile.

KGM is advancing technological cooperation with Chery Automobile, utilizing over 70 years of expertise and strategic collaboration through the use of Chery's global platform.

Meanwhile, KGM is reportedly using Chery's T2X platform, which supports mid-to-large vehicle models and accommodates both internal combustion and plug-in hybrid systems.

KGM expects to release a plug-in hybrid model as well. The KGM Rexton full-change model is likely to utilize the T2X platform with a target launch in 2026.

If the KGM Rexton full-change model utilizes the T2X platform, it is likely to resemble the Chery Automobile Jetour T2. Its angular exterior evokes a sense of the Defender.

The front features Jetour lettering on the grille, while the sides showcase a boxy design with flared fenders. The rear includes a spare tire, a hallmark of SUVs.

The interior design emphasizes straight lines, giving it a classic SUV appearance. The driver's seat features a 10.25-inch full digital instrument panel, while the center fascia houses a 15.6-inch large display.

The vehicle will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 CPU. The powertrain is expected to combine a 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine with an electric motor in a plug-in hybrid model. The 1.5-liter engine produces 156 horsepower, while the 2.0-liter engine delivers 250 horsepower. The electric motor generates 224 horsepower, allowing for an EV mode range of 128 miles (206 km), with a total driving range projected to reach approximately 870 miles (1,400 km).

The T2 is expected to represent the full change of the Rexton. Since it will share the T2X platform used in the T2, it is more likely to be developed using T2X rather than the concept car F100. Given that the KGM Rexton full-change model serves as the flagship SUV, there are predictions that it will launch with a more upscale image than the T2.
