First, Hyundai Motor Company is preparing for the second half of the year with a focus on new eco-friendly vehicles. They plan to launch the New Ioniq 6, a facelift of the original Ioniq 6, along with a high-performance N Line model.
The new Ioniq 6 N Line will likely inherit the design from the RN22e, a rolling lab model revealed in 2022. Hyundai expects to unveil the high-performance Ioniq 6 N later this year. They plan to launch the production model in July, but the specific release date is still undecided.
Additionally, the all-new Nexo will debut after seven years with a complete redesign. The new Nexo will build on the concept of the Inisyum revealed last year and will incorporate Hyundai's new design language called Art of Steel. The new model is expected to feature a larger hydrogen tank storage capacity, allowing for a driving range of over 435 miles on a single charge. Nexo's cumulative sales have surpassed 40,000 units.
Hyundai's luxury brand Genesis plans to launch the GV60 Magma as the first model of its high-performance brand, Magma. The GV60 Magma has been spotted testing at the Nürburgring circuit and is currently in the preparation stage for release. It will likely feature a high-performance electric powertrain similar to that of the Ioniq 5 N.
Meanwhile, Kia is intensifying its efforts to expand its electric vehicle lineup in the second half of the year. In June, they plan to officially launch the PV5 as their first purpose-built mobility (PBV) electric vehicle. Pre-orders have already begun, and deliveries are scheduled for late July.
The PV5, a mid-size electric vehicle based on Hyundai Motor Group's exclusive PBV platform E-GMPS, is expected to have a maximum driving range of 248 miles. It will offer two trims equipped with 71.2 kWh and 51.5 kWh batteries, with a peak output of 163 horsepower and a maximum torque of approximately 18.5 lb-ft.
Kia also plans to introduce the EV5, an electrified SUV positioned between the EV3 and EV9. The Kia EV5 will feature a 400-volt system and a maximum capacity LFP battery of 88.1 kWh, allowing for rapid charging from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes. Kia is preparing to popularize electric vehicles in Korea with the EV3, EV4, EV5, and PV5 models.
Renault Korea is also preparing to enter the electric vehicle market. They plan to launch the compact electric SUV, the Scenic E-Tech Electric, to continue the success of the Grand Koleos. The Renault Scenic is expected to compete directly with the Kia EV5 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. The vehicle has completed the Ministry of Environment's emissions and noise certification process, with a reported driving range of 275 miles on a single charge, longer than the Ioniq 5's base model range of 227 miles. It has been developed based on Renault Group's electric vehicle platform, AmpR, and will be equipped with an 87 kWh battery pack from LG Energy Solution.
