As soon as I received the vehicle, I conducted a test drive.
I confirmed that the steering was heavy.
Then I checked the dashboard.
The dashboard showed a warning for vehicle stability control and anti-lock braking system (ABS), along with the ABS light.
Additionally, there was a parking brake check notification, but I couldn’t take a separate photo.
I ran a scanner diagnostic.
The scanner showed all the information from the dashboard.
Additionally, it indicated an issue with the "left rear speed sensor."
What a problem?!
Yes.
In such cases, the speed sensor, also known as the wheel speed sensor, is usually mounted on each wheel.
This part reads the rotation speed of the wheels.
If it fails, it cannot send data, which leads to errors in the ABS function.
This situation occurs as a result.
However, if luck is not on our side?!
Even if we replace this part, there may be issues with the ABS module.
This can also happen.
After consulting with the owner, we decided to start by fixing the speed sensor, which is relatively cheaper.
We will monitor the situation closely.
The probability of resolving the issue is 90%.
If we run into another issue, the chance is 10%.
The parts are genuine Jeep parts.
The Cherokee and all Jeep models are notorious for having limited aftermarket options.
Even if they are available, they are often unreliable.
Fortunately, we found a part in stock!
Sometimes, when trying to fix something, there may be no stock available, forcing us to import parts for Jeeps.
With the recent rise in exchange rates, it can be quite tough.
So, this was a relief!
I removed the faulty part immediately.
Interestingly, there were no visible issues like broken wires.
It seems it simply reached the end of its lifespan after long use.
The results? Everything returned to normal!
The issue is resolved.
I contacted the owner and assisted with the pickup.
Previously, we dealt with a coolant issue, and now this problem arose shortly after.
The owner is understandably concerned. What can we do? When we fix things, we ensure it's done right!
