Hello.
I'm Yukapost, an automotive influencer.
Kia's flagship electric SUV, the EV9, made waves upon its debut by offering a more spacious interior than traditional combustion engine models like the Palisade and GV80. With ample room in the third row, it quickly gained attention as a new family vehicle. Recently, Kia announced the launch of contracts for the high-performance model 'The Kia EV9 GT' and the practical 'Standard' model starting Tuesday, the 18th, which has once again drawn significant interest.
Additionally, Kia has adjusted the trim prices of the existing EV9 long-range model to enhance its market competitiveness. The EV9 GT boasts impressive driving performance while building on the strong reputation of the EV9, which has received accolades in the global automotive awards, including '2024 World Car of the Year' and '2024 North American Car of the Year' in the SUV category, showcasing its recognized value in the global market.
The EV9 GT, unveiled last year at the LA Auto Show, features a powerful all-wheel-drive system and high-performance specifications that deliver an exhilarating driving experience. It comes equipped with numerous advanced safety and convenience features. The EV9 GT achieves a combined maximum output of 509 horsepower and a peak torque of 75.5 kgf.m, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds.
Moreover, the EV9 GT features a 99.8 kWh fourth-generation high-voltage battery, providing a driving range of 253 miles on a single charge (combined standard). Kia introduces the preview electronic control suspension, which optimizes suspension settings based on road conditions and driving scenarios, ensuring a stable and luxurious driving experience. Additionally, the standard electronic limited-slip differential (e-LSD) actively controls the drive power to the left and right wheels, enhancing stability even in dynamic driving situations.
The EV9 GT also features high-performance friction materials applied to a four-piston monoblock caliper (front) and large brake discs, achieving a maximum deceleration of 0.6G through regenerative braking. This ensures a powerful braking performance that matches its impressive acceleration, setting the EV9 GT apart from competitors like Hyundai's Ioniq 9 and enhancing its market competitiveness.
In addition, Kia has enhanced the EV9 GT's appeal by incorporating various convenience features and a dedicated infotainment system. Notably, the vehicle comes standard with premium relaxation seats in the second row, equipped with dynamic body care, ensuring comfort for passengers during long journeys. The third-row power reclining and folding function also enhances convenience during seat adjustments.
Furthermore, Kia has introduced the first-ever 100W fast-charging USB Type-C port (with a dedicated cable) and the i-PEDAL 3.0 system, allowing acceleration, deceleration, and stopping using only the accelerator pedal across all regenerative braking stages. Other advanced features include digital side mirrors, a digital center mirror, built-in camera 2, remote smart parking assist 2, augmented reality navigation, and Kia Digital Key 2, all standard on the EV9 GT.
The EV9 GT also incorporates a dedicated cluster theme that reflects its high-performance model characteristics, providing a unique emotional experience exclusive to the GT model. The infotainment system includes a performance timer that allows real-time monitoring of 0-60 mph and 1/4-mile drag performance metrics, enhancing the joy of driving. The Meridian premium sound system delivers a powerful audio experience, while the dedicated e-ASD, linked to a virtual transmission system, amplifies the dynamic driving sensation.
The EV9 GT showcases its sporty, exclusive design, emphasizing its status as a high-performance flagship electric SUV. Kia has applied a vertical pattern to the active air flaps on the front bumper and added a slim black roof rack, creating a sophisticated yet sporty appearance. The dynamic design includes exclusive 21-inch wheels and neon-colored brake calipers, maximizing the GT's unique character.
Meanwhile, with the launch of the GT model, Kia has introduced a Standard model to cater to customers seeking an accessible urban family electric vehicle. The Kia EV9 Standard model features a 76.1 kWh battery, enabling a driving range of 232 miles on a single charge, making it suitable for urban driving. It includes the same range of safety and convenience features found in the long-range model, allowing customers to experience the EV9's exceptional value at a reasonable price.
Additionally, Kia has adjusted the prices of the existing EV9 long-range models to enhance market competitiveness. As a result, the prices for the Kia EV9 after environmental-friendly vehicle tax benefits are as follows: Standard ▲Air 48,000 USD, ▲Earth 52,000 USD; Long Range (2WD) ▲Air 51,000 USD, ▲Earth 55,000 USD; Long Range (4WD) ▲Air 52,000 USD, ▲Earth 56,000 USD; GT line 59,000 USD, and the GT model 65,000 USD. (※ Based on a 3.5% individual consumption tax, the GT model is not eligible for environmental-friendly vehicle tax benefits.)
Considering government and local subsidies for electric vehicle purchases, the EV9 Standard Air trim is expected to be available for around 46,000 USD in Seoul. A Kia representative stated, "The EV9 GT embodies the pinnacle of Kia's electrification philosophy, combining high performance and premium value. With the introduction of the GT model alongside the Standard model and adjustments to the long-range model's pricing, we anticipate that more customers will experience the advanced technology and premium value of the EV9."
