Hello.
I am Yukapost, an automotive influencer.
On December 6 of last year, Hyundai unveiled the design of its flagship large SUV, the full-change Palisade LX3, known as the "All-New Palisade." Following this, on December 20, the company revealed detailed specifications, including the pre-order and pricing, generating significant buzz. Finally, on January 14, 2025, Hyundai held a launch event for the premium flagship large SUV "All-New Palisade" at "Maison de Italie" in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and began customer deliveries on the 15th.
After its initial launch in November 2018, the second-generation Palisade LX3 "All-New Palisade" has made a complete comeback after six years. It boasts overwhelming pre-orders that surpass the previous generation, showcasing its immense popularity. The new Palisade features a bold and majestic exterior design that emphasizes its unique character, utilizing its length of over 16.4 feet to provide spacious interior accommodations. It offers configurations for 7- and 9-passenger models, making it not only an ideal "family car" but also suitable for business and official use, showcasing its versatility.
Additionally, the new Palisade introduces Hyundai's next-generation hybrid system called the "2.5 Turbo Hybrid." This system promises superior performance and fuel efficiency compared to the existing 1.6 Turbo Hybrid, ensuring a satisfying driving experience. With advanced safety and convenience features that enhance the luxurious feel expected from a flagship large SUV, customer interest in the new Palisade remains high.
Notably, the pre-orders that started last month saw over 33,000 orders on the first day alone, demonstrating the Palisade's popularity in the domestic large SUV market. To respond to this demand, Hyundai expressed a strong commitment to achieving perfect quality. In a historic first, representatives from both Hyundai management and labor attended the launch event together. During his opening remarks, President Lee Dong-seok stated, "We will do our utmost to achieve customer satisfaction through perfect quality and timely production." In response, Moon Yong-moon, the Hyundai Motor Union leader, pledged, "We will strive to produce the All-New Palisade with perfect quality, ensuring it becomes a cherished member of our customers' automotive families."
Furthermore, Hyundai and its labor union have agreed to produce the existing Palisade model flexibly at the Ulsan plants 2, 4, and 5, and they are committed to maximizing production, timely supply, and achieving perfect quality for the new Palisade.
Consequently, Hyundai plans to operate the new Palisade with two powertrain options: the 2.5 Turbo Gasoline and the 2.5 Turbo Hybrid, changing from the previous 3.8 gasoline and 2.2 diesel engines. The 2.5 Turbo Gasoline engine delivers a maximum output of 281 horsepower and a torque of 31.1 lb-ft, achieving a combined fuel efficiency of 22.9 miles per gallon. Meanwhile, the 2.5 Turbo Hybrid offers a system output of 334 horsepower, boasting a driving range of over 621 miles on a single tank of gas. (Note: These figures are based on in-house measurements; the fuel efficiency of the 2.5 Turbo Hybrid will be disclosed after certification by the Ministry of Industry.)
The Palisade Hybrid model enhances ride comfort and driving performance by applying driving-specialized technologies such as E-Ride, E-Handling, E-EHA, and e-DTVC, utilizing the drive motor. It also features a 1.65 kWh, 300V high-voltage lithium-ion battery and adds functions like indoor V2L and stay mode, allowing customers to experience EV-specific convenience technologies for the first time in a hybrid model.
As a result, 70% of the contract signers on the first day of pre-orders chose the hybrid model, indicating high interest and expectations for the 2.5 Turbo Hybrid. Additionally, 40% of contract signers selected the 9-passenger trim, while 60% of buyers opted for the top-tier Calligraphy trim, reflecting strong demand for premium large SUVs.
Beyond changes to the powertrain, the completely revamped Palisade LX3 "All-New Palisade" offers best-in-class interior space across all three rows, providing a more comfortable experience for passengers. The overall length and height have been extended by 2.6 inches and 0.6 inches, respectively, enhancing headroom and legroom for a more spacious feel. The second-row seats feature a forward-tilting walk-in function, and the third-row seats can slide, maximizing convenience for third-row passengers and various space utilization.
Moreover, to enhance ride comfort, Hyundai has applied preview electronic control suspension for the first time in an SUV and improved the soundproofing performance of the front and rear door glasses. They also expanded the rear quarter glass area to provide a sense of openness for third-row passengers. Hyundai has incorporated advanced intelligent safety technologies, including forward collision-avoidance assist, navigation-based smart cruise control, highway driving assist 2, blind-spot collision warning, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, remote smart parking assist, rear parking collision-avoidance assist, side parking distance warning, advanced rear passenger alert, steering wheel grip detection, and driver status monitoring.
Additionally, the new model includes premium convenience features such as the Built-in Cam 2 Plus, rear monitor and digital center mirror camera cleaning function, wireless software updates (OTA), indoor fingerprint authentication system, BOSE premium sound system, in-car payment, Hyundai Digital Key 2, and Hyundai AI Assistant.
Meanwhile, with the launch of the new Palisade, Hyundai plans to open the "Blue Link Store" in February, allowing customers to purchase desired digital features at any time. Available digital features through the Blue Link Store include four dynamic welcome/escort lighting patterns, "Display Theme" for changing cluster and infotainment designs, "Streaming Plus" for high-quality music and video streaming, and "Streaming Premium," a vehicle webOS content platform. Hyundai aims to continuously expand the selection of digital features available for purchase.
A Hyundai representative stated, "The fact that over 60% of pre-orders selected the Calligraphy trim reflects the high expectations for premium flagship SUVs. It seems that enhancing the Palisade's luxurious feel has led to this customer choice." He added, "I am confident that the All-New Palisade will upgrade Hyundai's SUV value while providing an optimal mobility experience." We can soon expect to see the new Palisade gasoline model on the roads as customer deliveries begin.
