On the 9th, Kia unveiled the design of the newly refreshed K8 sedan, called 'The New K8,' marking its global debut and the start of sales. The refreshed K8, Kia's flagship mid-size sedan, showcases a design that could easily be mistaken for a full redesign. Most of the vehicle's design has significantly changed, except for some interior elements and the rear design, which has led to a surge of interest in the newly refreshed Kia K8.
The refreshed model, launched three years after the full redesign of the Kia K8 in April 2021, features a futuristic and simple front design that makes the previous K8 seem like a distant memory. It is expected that this logo will appear on various new Kia vehicles in the future.

Meanwhile, the Kia K8 hybrid model, expected to see the highest demand, includes various technologies tailored for hybrid performance. Notably, it features E-Ride, which accelerates and decelerates the drive motor to minimize bounce when traversing bumps, providing a stable ride. It also includes E-Handling, which enhances agility and stability through control of the drive motor during turns, along with hybrid-specific content, showcasing the innovative technologies of the new K8 hybrid.
As a result, the price of the refreshed Kia K8, The New K8, has increased by approximately 4 million KRW ($2,900 USD) compared to the previous model. The K8 2.5 gasoline starts at 37,360,000 KRW ($27,000 USD), the 3.5 gasoline at 40,480,000 KRW ($29,000 USD), the K8 turbo hybrid at 43,720,000 KRW ($31,600 USD), and the 3.5 LPG at 37,820,000 KRW ($27,400 USD). Notably, the price of the turbo hybrid model is currently before any eco-friendly vehicle tax benefits, which may lower the cost further once those benefits are applied.
In fact, with similar pricing, the Hyundai Grandeur and Kia K8 not only share price points but also comparable product quality and technology. This means that the competition will now hinge on design rather than just price, technology, and product quality. This shift could pose a significant challenge to Hyundai's luxury premium brand, Genesis G80, as both vehicles offer elevated product standards, leading to even deeper considerations for consumers when choosing between them.
