Hello.
This is Uniji, an automotive influencer.
I’m currently active in the field.
The new electric vehicle from KG Mobility, now called 'KGM,'
'Torres EVX,' launched last September and recently began
delivering to customers in November. However, just a short time after
starting deliveries, various defects and issues began to surface,
prompting concerns and complaints from owners of the Torres EVX.
You can find numerous posts expressing anxiety and dissatisfaction from
owners in various automotive community forums, including the Torres EVX internet
If you look at posts from owners on the representative online community cafe
'Torres EVX Club,' you will find many posts discussing defects and issues
related to the Torres EVX. Additionally, you can see posts from potential owners
expressing their anxiety ahead of their new car deliveries. This situation has once again
brought KGM's new car quality management into the spotlight.
The main quality issues reported involve frequent defects in the vehicle's software, including
connection issues with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, warnings for the heating system,
malfunctions with the around-view monitor, and navigation display shutdowns. However, the serious
concerns regarding after-sales service (AS) response to these issues have become increasingly apparent.
As a result, customers are hesitating not only to cancel existing contracts but also to purchase vehicles,
which raises concerns about potentially falling into a dilemma.
To address these issues, the union has strongly raised the seriousness of the problems with management, stating,
"We will continuously check for issues arising on the ground and work to resolve them as soon as possible."
On a positive note, the Torres EVX sold 1,700 units from its launch in September until last month, indicating a strong start.
Recently, however, a Torres EVX that had just been delivered was involved in a fire incident.
This occurred on the afternoon of the 16th, when another car collided with the rear of the Torres EVX on a road in Busan's Buk-gu.
On impact, a fire that originated from the front of the other car spread to the Torres EVX.
Fortunately, the fire was extinguished quickly, and remarkably, the LFP blade battery installed in the Torres EVX suffered minimal damage, according to KGM.
KGM officials stated, "The exact investigation results are pending as the police and fire authorities are conducting their inquiries. We hope that vague fears or concerns regarding electric vehicles do not spread." They also mentioned that the incident proves the LFP battery applied in the Torres EVX is relatively safe from fires.
The LFP blade battery used in the Torres EVX enhances energy density by up to 20% through a cell-to-pack method, improving driving range. It also features a robust design that strengthens the connection between tightly packed cells and packs, making it efficient and durable against impacts.
Thus, confidence in the safety of the LFP blade battery is evident as it offers the longest warranty period in Korea of 10 years/1 million km, reflecting a commitment to safety.
Currently, if you apply for the electric vehicle subsidy, you can purchase the Torres EVX for around 30 million KRW, which equals approximately 22,500 USD.
