The Grandeur, launched last November, represents Hyundai's flagship
midsize sedan. Since its release, it has consistently shown strong sales, and it is now on the verge of entering the '100,000 Club' this year, generating significant buzz.
Recently, the domestic automotive market has shown high sales, particularly in the SUV segment. However, it seems that the Grandeur's popularity has surpassed even that of SUVs.
Since its debut in 1986, the Grandeur has dominated the domestic automotive market for 37 years. It has now introduced its 7th generation, the 'All-New Grandeur,' which features a new third-generation platform. This update has resulted in an increase of 45mm in overall length compared to the previous model, providing ample interior space.
The specifications of the Grandeur include a length of 197.2 inches, a width of 74.2 inches, a height of 57.5 inches, and a wheelbase of 114.0 inches. The larger body size has drawn attention as a family sedan.
This popularity is evident in the recent domestic automotive sales rankings. In August, the Hyundai Grandeur claimed the top spot in passenger car sales, and it also ranks first among domestic sales models from January to August this year.
Of course, the Grandeur's dominance has a long history. Since 2017, it has consistently sold over 100,000 units for four consecutive years. Although it faced a temporary decline in sales, the release of new models has led to a rebound, and it is now poised to re-enter the '100,000 Club,' making this milestone even more significant.
In the past, the Grandeur had a conservative image, but it has completely transformed with a modern design from Hyundai. It appears that finding a rival for the Grandeur in the domestic automotive market is quite challenging.
The Kia K8 is often mentioned as a competitor, but it has only achieved about a quarter of the Grandeur's sales, falling short of expectations.
The new Grandeur's popularity was evident even before its launch, as it garnered significant interest during pre-orders, reportedly reaching 110,000 units.
The design of the All-New Grandeur, which inherits the aesthetic of the first-generation 'Gak Grandeur,' has captivated its primary target audience of customers in their 40s and 50s. In the first half of this year, it recorded the highest sales among domestic cars preferred by women aged 40 to 70, showcasing clear results.
Recent high fuel prices have led consumers to feel the burden of fuel costs. This has prompted many to consider the economic benefits of hybrid vehicles, resulting in increased choices for the Grandeur hybrid.
The Grandeur also offers the advantage of customization, allowing consumers to create their own unique vehicle. It features a variety of materials and colors, enhancing its appeal.
Among these options, the 'Grandeur Black Ink,' available through the 'Black Ink' option, allows for a distinctive black aesthetic that sets it apart from the standard Grandeur, generating significant interest.
Currently, the pricing for the new Grandeur starts at 31,000 USD for the 2.5 gasoline premium trim, while the hybrid model begins at a higher price of 32,000 USD.
