Genesis GV80 Gets a Price Hike: What You Need to Know!

Recently, the updated Genesis G80 model was released.

Following that, Genesis unveiled the updated GV80 model.

The price list for the updated Genesis GV80 model has just been released.

In the case of the previously released Genesis G80 model,

the base price increased by about 2 million KRW (approximately $1,500), while

the base price of the Genesis GV80 model has risen by around 3 million KRW (about $2,250), generating significant buzz.

The Genesis GV80 model, launched in 2020, has become a popular flagship SUV for the Genesis brand, showcasing advanced features like preview electronic control suspension, augmented reality navigation, and a 3.0-liter inline diesel engine.

This model has garnered significant public interest.

However, given that the base price has increased by about 3 million KRW,

it’s natural to wonder what has changed compared to the previous model year.

For convenience features, a high-performance combination filter with antibacterial treatment has been added, and selecting a powertrain may incur a slight price increase; otherwise, no major changes have been identified.

The gasoline 3.5 turbo engine has seen a price increase of 100,000 KRW (about $75), while selecting 20-inch tires for the gasoline 2.5 turbo engine will raise the vehicle price by an additional 100,000 KRW (about $75).

Additionally, the price of the built-in camera has increased by 50,000 KRW (about $38). Personally, I wish the 'Built-in Cam 2' option applied to the new Grandeur had been included in this model update, as it would have been a nice addition.

Meanwhile, when looking at the price lists for both the Genesis G80 and GV80 models, some features have been removed, which may lead to misunderstandings among consumers.

Notably, the electric power steering, Genesis infotainment system, and push-button start & smart key are among the features that are no longer listed.

To clarify, these options have not been excluded from the actual Genesis vehicles.

As we entered the second half of this year, Genesis started simplifying its pricing display. During this process, essential specifications that were previously included have been removed from the price lists, making them easier to read than before.

However, it is clear that both the Genesis G80 and GV80 have undergone significant price increases.

Recently, the price increase for new models has been noticeable, leading to varying consumer perceptions of the price hikes. Additionally, with waiting periods for deliveries extending to about two years, it raises concerns that by the time the vehicles are delivered in the second half of 2023, there may be further price increases.
