Kia K8 Hits the Market: A Game Changer for Midsize Sedans!

Kia launched the sales of its midsize sedan, the K8, on the 8th.

On the first day of pre-orders, which was on the 23rd of last month, the company recorded 18,015 units.

By the 7th, a total of over 24,000 units were contracted within 12 business days.

This figure represents about 30% of Kia's domestic sales target of 80,000 units for the K8 this year.

K8 serves as Kia's first model showcasing its new design philosophy, featuring innovative and luxurious styling along with

comfortable and stable driving performance and advanced driver assistance systems.

Kia has incorporated its new design philosophy, "Opposite United," into the K8, creating a dynamic and elegant exterior.

"Opposite United" refers to a new effect created by combining contrasting concepts inspired by nature.

It embodies the idea of creating a forward-looking design by combining contrasting shapes, compositions, and colors.

The front of the Kia K8 features a new Kia logo and a bumper-integrated radiator grille, introducing innovative design elements unique to the brand.

This results in a bold and impactful design.

Notably, the K8's daytime running lights and turn signals feature "Star Cloud Lighting," which greets drivers by illuminating ten random lamps when unlocking the car.

Kia has also added sequential lighting functions to the front and rear turn signals, enhancing the vehicle's luxurious image.

The side profile of the Kia K8 showcases a streamlined character line that harmonizes with the body volume, creating an elegant and dynamic appearance.

At the rear, the K8 features a "rear lamp cluster" composed of left and right rear lamps connected by graphics, completing its three-dimensional look.

Kia designed the K8's interior to be comfortable and luxurious, inspired by first-class airport lounges.

The design incorporates elements that provide drivers with a different experience in seeing, hearing, and touching, allowing the K8 to inspire its drivers anew.

The Kia K8 features a seamlessly integrated 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment system.

The panoramic curved display and a 12-inch head-up display create a driver-centric space in the K8, while the intuitive design of the infotainment and climate control interface adds an innovative touch to the interior.

Additionally, the K8 boasts a Meridian premium sound system with 14 speakers and ambient lighting throughout the cabin, enhancing the emotional satisfaction of its occupants.

The price of the Kia K8

The sales price for the Kia K8 starts at 32,790,000 won (approximately 24,800 USD) for the 2.5 gasoline Noblesse Light model.

The Noblesse model costs 35,100,000 won (approximately 26,600 USD), while the Signature model is priced at 38,680,000 won (approximately 29,200 USD).

The 3.5 gasoline Noblesse Light model costs 36,180,000 won (approximately 27,300 USD), the Noblesse model costs 38,480,000 won (approximately 28,700 USD), and the Signature model is priced at 41,770,000 won (approximately 31,600 USD).

The Platinum model costs 45,260,000 won (approximately 34,100 USD), while the 3.5 LPI Prestige model is priced at 32,200,000 won (approximately 24,300 USD), and the Noblesse model at 36,590,000 won (approximately 27,600 USD).

The Kia K8 2.5 gasoline engine delivers a maximum output of 198 PS, a peak torque of 25.3 kgf·m, and a combined fuel efficiency of 12.0 km/L (approximately 28.3 mpg).

The 3.5 gasoline engine achieves a maximum output of 300 PS and a peak torque of 36.6 kgf·m.

The 3.5 LPI engine provides a maximum output of 240 PS and a peak torque of 32.0 kgf·m.

Furthermore, the Kia K8 comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems.

These include Highway Driving Assist 2, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Smart Cruise Control, Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control, and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, enhancing both safety and convenience.

The K8 also features a Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Assist, Rear Passenger Alert, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and a Reverse Guide Lamp.

Kia offers the K8 with three engine options: a 2.5 gasoline, a 3.5 gasoline, and a 3.5 LPI, with the 1.6 gasoline turbo hybrid model set to launch next month.

A Kia representative stated, "The Kia K8 breaks away from existing paradigms, presenting innovative and luxurious design and product quality, setting a new standard in the midsize market in South Korea." They added, "It will go beyond being a comfortable means of transportation and become a space that inspires customers, adding value to their daily lives."

Meanwhile, during the pre-order phase, Kia expanded the availability of the interior color "Sand Beige Two-Tone," initially exclusive to the Platinum trim of the 3.5 gasoline model, to include the signature trims of both the 2.5 and 3.5 gasoline models, actively responding to customer requests.
