Hello, I’m Double Look, an automotive influencer.
Last weekend, I had the opportunity to test drive the BMW X6 40i M Sport Package, a mid-size coupe SUV.
Equipped with a 6-cylinder gasoline turbo engine combined with a 48V mild hybrid system,
I experienced a driving feel that was both powerful and smooth.
Today, I will share a detailed review for those considering the purchase of a BMW X6.
First, let me share the specifications of the 2025 BMW X6 40i M Sport Package model I drove.
For reference, the exterior color is Manhattan Metallic (C3D).
The dimensions are: Length: 195.3 inches / Wheelbase: 117.1 inches / Width: 78.9 inches / Height: 66.9 inches
Engine: 6-cylinder turbo gasoline & MHEV
Displacement: 182.9 cubic inches
Maximum power: 381 hp / Maximum torque: 40.5 lb-ft
0 to 60 mph: 5.4 seconds
Combined fuel economy: 22.4 mpg (city 21.5 / highway 24.5)
The trunk space measures 20.5 cubic feet, and by folding down the second row, you can expand it to a maximum of 53.9 cubic feet.
This trunk space is smaller than that of the X5 40i (22.9 cubic feet), making it less ideal for outdoor activities like golfing, camping, or leisure pursuits.
Instead, I recommend it for those who enjoy urban life and prioritize style.
The tire specifications are 275/40 R21 for the front and 315/35 R21 for the rear.
The M Sport package features exclusive wheels with blue calipers, providing a sporty and sophisticated feel.
For reference, the M Performance model, the M60i, comes with 22-inch V-spoke 747M wheels and red calipers.
The BMW X6 40i Review - Powerful Yet Smooth Driving Experience!
The BMW X6 40i Review - Powerful Yet Smooth Driving Experience!
With a maximum output of 381 hp and a maximum torque of 40.5 lb-ft, the BMW X6 40i delivers impressive performance.
I felt a strong acceleration while driving on the highway.
Despite being a hefty mid-size SUV weighing nearly 4,850 pounds, it exhibited agile movement.
I confirmed the high satisfaction with the engine performance across BMW's SUV lineup.
While luxury sedans are split between Mercedes-Benz and BMW, the latter dominates the SUV market in sales.
You can clearly feel the significant difference in engine performance.
BMW's SUV lineup offers ample driving performance, allowing for fun driving experiences.
In contrast, competing imported SUVs tend to provide a somewhat dull driving feel.
The BMW X6 not only captivates with its artistic visual appeal as a coupe SUV but also boasts a majestic radiator grille with chrome bars and a sporty lower bumper design.
This combination has earned it a wide range of admirers, regardless of age or gender.
The adaptive LED headlights enhance both design and visibility, providing high satisfaction.
While it may not feature the previous blue laser lights, it still offers bright visibility for drivers even in the dark, instilling a sense of stability.
During night driving, the clear and bright display and cluster screen allowed me to easily check various information.
I experienced stable driving thanks to the combination of adaptive LED headlights, high beam assist, and rain sensors.
The interior features an emotional ambient light that creates a lovely date atmosphere.
I felt that it now competes well with Mercedes-Benz in terms of ambiance.
You can choose from three driving modes: Sport, Comfort, and Eco Pro.
When driving on the highway, I activated Sport mode to experience dynamic exhaust sounds, while I switched to Eco Pro mode for city driving to enhance fuel efficiency.
The display and cluster design change according to the driving mode, which enhances the driving experience by adapting to the environment.
When you set the My Drive mode, you can save your preferred driving mode for easy access.
The center panel includes a button to raise or lower the vehicle height.
When driving at high speeds, lowering the height provides a more stable driving feel, while raising it to the maximum enhances the dynamic driving experience during off-road driving.
Adjusting the height can create the optimal driving environment, making it clear that this model belongs to the flagship SUV category.
The BMW X6 40i model features Parking Assistant Professional, which includes surround view, reversing assist, and remote control parking.
This system enhances convenience, especially in tight parking spaces.
I often rely on the automatic parking feature in narrow spaces, which instills more confidence than parking myself.
Using radar sensors for nearby obstacles and space, it enables stable parking with short and precise movements, making it accessible even for those who struggle with parking.
When entering a dead-end street, the system remembers the last 656 feet of the route, allowing you to reverse using only the brake and accelerator.
Reversing can be challenging in narrow streets, but utilizing the reversing assist system can provide a hassle-free experience.
The 14.9-inch touch display offers excellent visibility and usability, which stood out as one of the most satisfying features during my test drive of the BMW X6 40i.
The iDrive 8.0 system allows convenient control of all functions, but I found the navigation system lacking compared to the recent iDrive 9.0 in the X3.
I used wireless Apple CarPlay to access my usual apps, and aside from the navigation, I was quite satisfied with the display and cluster.
The exceptional visibility during night driving was particularly impressive.
I enjoyed a serene drive in the quiet interior while listening to rich sound from the emotional Harman Kardon surround speakers.
I could operate the menu safely using voice recognition and gesture control while driving at night.
BMW continuously enhances driver safety and convenience with iDrive upgrades every time a new model is released.
The BMW X6 40i MSP model is also a dream car for my spouse and me.
It satisfies various needs, from golfing outings for four to family trips with parents and attending events that require a stylish arrival.
With its majestic design, sleek coupe style, and overwhelming performance, I truly understood why the BMW X6 is considered a dream car among car enthusiasts.
The BMW X6 40i showcases a variety of charms, from style and space to performance.
Many compare it to the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, but after test-driving both models, I found the BMW X6 to be the clear winner in performance.
Of course, design and brand preference can vary based on personal taste, but you will understand why BMW's SUV lineup dominates competitors with just the engine performance alone.
In the next installment, I will share my experience of taking the BMW X6 on a golf outing with four people, so feel free to ask any questions in the comments.
