Hello, I’m Double Look, an automotive influencer.
Recently, I drove the Genesis GV70 from Seoul to a golf course in Gunsan
covering nearly 186 miles round trip.
Despite poor visibility and slippery roads due to heavy snowfall,
I experienced the stable driving performance of the all-wheel-drive Genesis GV70 3.5 Turbo Gasoline model.
Today, I want to share my thoughts with a friend who is considering the Benz GLC along with this test drive experience.
Why is the Genesis GV70 more attractive than the Benz GLC?
Why is the Genesis GV70 more attractive than the Benz GLC?
The Genesis GV70 competes fiercely with imported cars like the Benz GLC, BMW X3, and Volvo XC60 as a mid-size SUV.
This competition is intense.
However, most imported cars have high starting prices for their base trims, and
additional options can be quite expensive, leading to significant financial burdens.
In contrast, the Genesis GV70 starts at a reasonable price for its base trim,
and it comes equipped with numerous convenience, driving, and safety assistance systems, making it user-friendly.
The GV70 includes standard features such as front and rear collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist,
emergency braking alerts, and lane departure warning, ensuring safety for both drivers and passengers without needing extra options.
Additionally, the navigation-based smart cruise control, lane-keeping assist 2, and highway driving assist made my long-distance golf trip from Seoul to Gunsan quite comfortable.
The GV70 has received praise for its luxurious design identity and stylish coupe-like SUV aesthetics.
I notice many GV70 owners around me, and
in most cases, women played a significant role in the car purchasing decisions.
They chose the more refined luxury SUV GV70 over Hyundai's mid-size SUV models,
saying it offers practicality and a sense of luxury.

The Genesis GV70 comes with two engine options: a 2.5-liter gasoline turbo engine producing 304 horsepower and
a 3.5-liter gasoline turbo engine generating 380 horsepower.
However, the Benz GLC only offers a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine in South Korea, which produces a disappointing 258 horsepower.
Furthermore, the Genesis GV70 features a preview electronic control suspension that enhances driving satisfaction.
This advanced technology uses a front camera to detect road conditions in advance,
allowing the suspension to be set for optimal ride comfort for passengers.
Additionally, the double-glazed acoustic glass and active noise control system contribute to exceptional interior quietness.
While the Benz GLC also provides excellent ride comfort,
the base model has a harder suspension setup, which falls short compared to the GV70 on South Korean roads.
Genesis enhances customer satisfaction with its unique emotional appeal.
Genesis enhances customer satisfaction with its unique emotional appeal.
In the past, people used to say that domestic cars could never match the emotional appeal of Mercedes-Benz,
but now many people regard Genesis's emotional appeal highly.
My spouse and I recently attended the launch event for the facelifted Genesis G80, GV80, and GV70 models, and
we definitely felt a more emotional and trendy vibe compared to before.
Just looking at the interior design, we feel that Genesis is ahead of its competitors,
and we believe it surpasses imported cars in both design and comfort, going beyond just value for money.
Of course, personal priorities will influence choices, but
I believe Genesis's changes contributed to the decline in imported car sales in 2024 compared to the previous year.
the after-sales service and maintenance costs.
Genesis minimizes customer complaints through a nationwide network that ensures smooth parts supply and low maintenance costs.
In contrast, the Benz GLC has relatively high parts prices and maintenance costs,
and customers often experience inconvenience due to difficulties getting service appointments.
I know several owners who have given up on Benz due to after-sales service issues,
and those who have had these experiences tend to change their minds completely.
In conclusion, I rate and recommend the Genesis GV70 higher than the Benz GLC,and I’m curious about what you, my subscribers, think.
In the next installment, I will candidly discuss the pros and cons of the GV70 along with my test drive experience.
