Last weekend, I took the 2022 New MINI 5-Door for a test drive in beautiful weather.
My wife and I enjoyed a date exploring popular restaurants and cafes near Seoul, and
every time I test drive a MINI, I can't help but feel a sense of joy.
The 2022 New MINI family debuted last month,
attracting attention for its sleek design and enhanced driving assistance systems.
The refreshed designs of the New MINI 3-Door, 5-Door, and Convertible, along with the newly introduced colors,
and options and prices can be found through the link below.
Today, I will share my weekend experience with the New MINI 5-Door,
along with specifications, pricing, and my driving review.
The recently launched New MINI family features a black high-gloss design on the front,
earning it the affectionate nickname "Daddy Wooni" by chance.
When I first saw the facelifted New MINI family, I had preconceived notions about its front design, but
ultimately, I find its design increasingly attractive the more I look at it.
The facelifted models sometimes spark discussions due to their bold design points.
Recently released models like the vertical kidney grille BMW 4 Series, and the large kidney grille BMW X7, nicknamed "Pig Nose," initially faced similar criticism, but
over time, they have established themselves as design identities rather than issues.
I saw the New MINI family at the launch event, and after test driving the New MINI Convertible and now the New MINI 5-Door, I feel increasingly familiar and comfortable with it.
Many people, like me, may find themselves increasingly drawn to the charm of the New MINI family.
Its overall balance is excellent, and above all, its sophisticated look suits urban environments perfectly, making MINI design its greatest strength.
My test drive helped me understand why people choose MINI as their daily car in the city.
I drove the New MINI 5-Door Classic Plus Launch Pack model.
The exterior color is Rooftop Grey, a newly introduced color for this model.
Many people might associate MINI with vibrant colors like Chili Red and Island Blue, but
I find this subtle and luxurious color much more appealing.
The Rooftop Grey color is captivating and never gets old! You can truly appreciate the charm of this new color when you see it in person.
The New MINI 5-Door Cooper Classic Plus Launch Pack model measures 158.7 inches in length, 67.9 inches in width, and 56.1 inches in height.
The Cooper S model is just 0.4 inches longer at 159.4 inches, while the width, height, and wheelbase remain the same.
The New MINI 5-Door Classic Plus Launch Pack model features a gasoline turbo engine with a displacement of 1499cc, producing 136 horsepower and 22.43 kg·m of torque, reaching 0 to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds.
The Cooper S model, equipped with a 1998cc gasoline turbo engine, delivers 192 horsepower, 28.55 kg·m of torque, and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds.
With a combined fuel efficiency of 29.2 mpg, this model boasts excellent fuel economy, making it a great choice for a daily city car or a first imported vehicle.
Recently, various brands have launched compact cars to attract younger consumers, but
I believe it will be challenging for them to dethrone MINI, which has enjoyed long-lasting popularity in the compact car segment.
For those seeking a model that embodies urban sophistication, I highly recommend the New MINI 5-Door.
Test Drive of the New MINI 5-Door
The weekend felt surprisingly quiet in Seoul, possibly due to the holiday season.
While test driving the New MINI 5-Door,
my wife and I enjoyed a tour of restaurants and cafes.
The New MINI 5-Door features a panoramic glass roof, which provides fantastic openness in the rear seat.
I found the spaciousness to be quite impressive.
The New MINI 5-Door, being a compact sedan, offers the advantage of easy parking even in crowded areas.
My wife tends to be cautious about parking, especially when seeking out popular spots in northern Seoul, but
the MINI is popular among women for its ease of driving and parking.
Additionally, its stylish design blends seamlessly with urban environments, enhancing your style while also looking great in photos.
Isn't it an adorable little car? Haha!
The New MINI 5-Door Classic Plus Launch Pack model includes driving assistant features like lane departure warning, active guard, and high beam assist,
which makes it comfortable and safe for inexperienced drivers.
This small and compact model, equipped with various driving assistance systems, makes it a strong contender for anyone considering their first car.
Driving the New MINI 5-Door around downtown Seoul, I couldn't help but think that MINI truly excels in urban settings.
Its lively design, economical fuel efficiency,
along with comfortable parking, various driving assistance systems, and a smooth driving experience make it an attractive option for anyone considering a daily city car.
At the Kolon Motors MINI Showroom in Seocho,
This test drive took place at one of the largest MINI showrooms in the country, where Manager Park Byung-woo assisted me.
The Kolon Motors Seocho showroom was also recognized as an excellent showroom at the 2020 MINI AWARDS.
The showroom is spacious and comfortable, allowing customers to browse and consult without worrying about COVID-19.
They operate on a reservation basis to ensure that customer flow does not overlap, so if you want to see the facelifted models of MINI and take a test drive,
it would be best to contact Manager Park Byung-woo in advance to schedule your visit. (Contact information is available in the link below)
During my visit to the Kolon Motors Seocho showroom, I noticed the New MINI 3-Door JCW model on display.
The Seocho showroom is the only place in Seoul exhibiting the New MINI 3-Door JCW. Haha!
Driving the JCW is always exciting and fun,
The newly released 2022 MINI JCW in Silver White is stunning in both design and color...
The more I see the New MINI JCW in Silver White, the more I fall in love with it.
Back in May, I attended the MINI OWNERS TRACK DAY, where the true driving performance of the MINI JCW shines on the track.
Being able to drive your own JCW on the track is a major perk for MINI Cooper owners.
The newly released 2022 New MINI facelift models feature more subtle colors, like the previously mentioned Rooftop Grey and Silver White, rather than bold colors.
With the variety of existing and newly introduced exterior colors, customers will have plenty of options to choose from.
Personally, I cast my vote for the subtle colors, but my wife still insists that British Racing Green is the most beautiful.
In conclusion, it seems that the decision to purchase a vehicle often reflects the preferences of the significant other. Haha!
I have a Starbucks card featuring the design of the New MINI Convertible, and I noticed how various products make people rush to the store as soon as it opens.
The New MINI hanging from the straw is just too cute, don’t you think? Haha!
This test drive was made possible by the assistance of Manager Park Byung-woo from Kolon Motors MINI Seocho showroom.
He is a MINI expert who knows everything about the brand, and his friendly demeanor makes it easy to receive consultation and test drives.
I often reach out to him whenever I have questions about MINI,
so it might be beneficial to inquire about monthly promotions or stock availability for specific MINI models and colors.
Today, I uploaded information about the size and specifications of the New MINI 5-Door, along with my driving review and a brief test drive experience.
The New MINI 5-Door has been a hot topic since its launch, and I believe it will be a delightful sight to see on the streets.
If you have any questions beyond this brief review, feel free to leave a comment, and I'll respond based on my personal experience.
This post was made possible by a test drive opportunity provided by Kolon Motors.
