To attend the Volkswagen Touareg launch event, I visited the Grand Ballroom at the Grand Hyatt Seoul in Hannam-dong.
The event included a photo zone, a luxury keyring-making event, the unveiling of the Volkswagen Touareg 2020 model, a performance by an undisclosed celebrity star, and a lucky draw.
The excitement surrounding the Volkswagen luxury keyring creation event was particularly high, as participants could have their initials and custom phrases engraved by hand, making it a truly special gift.
Volkswagen's plans for 2020 are highly anticipated, with a strategy to launch five SUV models under the 5T initiative.
In 2019, Volkswagen achieved remarkable growth in the global market, largely thanks to the successful launches of the Arteon and Tiguan models.

The first model in this 5T strategy is the 2020 New Touareg.
(Following that, they will release the T-Roc, Tiguan Allspace, Tiguan, and Teramont models to focus on the domestic market.)
I had high expectations for the flagship SUV debuting as Volkswagen's first model in 2020,
and judging by the reactions from attendees, I wasn't the only one.
Now, let’s take a look at the specifications of the Volkswagen Touareg
The Volkswagen Tiguan features an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 4Motion AWD system.
The 3.0 V6 TDI model launched first, while the release date for the 4.0 V8 TDI model remains undecided.
The dimensions are as follows: length 16.0 feet / wheelbase 9.5 feet
height 5.6 feet / width 6.5 feet.
Compared to the second-generation model, the new Touareg has increased its length by 3.1 inches and width by 1.8 inches, while its height has decreased by 0.4 inches.
(The height is 5.5 feet when applying air suspension.)
The Volkswagen Touareg features a 2,967cc diesel engine with a maximum output of 286 horsepower and a peak torque of 44.9 lb-ft.
Compared to the second-generation model, the new Touareg boasts an increase of 41 horsepower and 3.7 lb-ft in torque, showcasing its powerful performance beyond its larger frame.
The Touareg can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds... an impressive figure considering its hefty weight of about 4,850 lbs.
Additionally, it offers a fuel efficiency of 24.3 mpg, which is quite appealing.
Honestly, I didn't realize just how attractive the Volkswagen Touareg was until I saw it in person.
The luxurious visuals and sporty, dynamic design completely captivated me.
My wife, who accompanied me to the launch event, felt the same way... Should we go for it? Haha!
The white Volkswagen Touareg featured in the photos is the 3.0 TDI R-Line model, priced at approximately $76,000 USD.
The 3.0 TDI Premium is priced at about $66,900 USD, while the Prestige model costs around $58,500 USD.
The Volkswagen Touareg is built on the MLB Evo platform.
I've never felt that an SUV of this size could be so beautiful, but the 2020 Volkswagen Touareg exceeds expectations with its stunning design.
In addition to its design, the Touareg features an enhanced driving assistance system and various functions that truly complete Volkswagen's flagship SUV.
It launched around the same time as Genesis's first SUV lineup, the GV80, and I sense an interesting competition between the two models.
I plan to test drive both models soon, and once I do, I will provide my honest assessment of the winner.
The popularity of SUVs continues to rise in South Korea.
In other words, SUV models with beautiful rear designs are receiving particularly positive responses.
In that sense, I would give the 2020 Volkswagen Touareg a perfect score of 100 out of 100.

The trunk space of the third-generation Volkswagen Touareg is 810 liters, which can expand to a maximum of 1,800 liters with the second row folded down.
For golf enthusiasts, this trunk space is incredibly appealing.
The InnoVision cockpit, standard across all lineups, features a 15-inch large TFT touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that provide an expansive view from the moment you start the engine.
The 15-inch RFR touchscreen can be controlled through touch and gesture recognition, allowing for easy access while driving.
This includes innovative features such as navigation map zooming and a 3D display of the driving assistance system.

The driving modes include Normal, Sport, Comfort, Eco, Snow, Off-road, and Individual, totaling seven options.
The Volkswagen Touareg features air suspension that can adjust the vehicle height between -1.6 inches to 2.8 inches.
This variable air suspension adapts to driving conditions, providing a high level of comfort on both smooth roads and rough off-road terrains.
The upcoming 4.0 V8 TDI model, producing 421 horsepower, is likely to generate significant excitement upon its release.
I definitely want to try out the 421-horsepower Volkswagen Touareg.
The 2020 Volkswagen Touareg model doesn't seem to raise any safety concerns.
It received a top rating of 5 stars in the large off-road category from Euro NCAP, proving its outstanding safety features.
The Night Vision system uses infrared cameras to detect people or animals that are not visible to the naked eye, and this information is relayed to the driver through the digital cockpit and head-up display.
This smart feature helps protect against unseen dangers.
The new Touareg comes standard with a four-wheel drive 4Motion system.
This is great news for those who enjoy off-road driving, and I certainly do too...
The 2020 Volkswagen Touareg features an 'All-Wheel Steering' system that enables all four wheels to steer, allowing for quick responsiveness.
This system allows the front and rear wheels to turn in opposite directions at speeds below 23 mph, making it useful for U-turns on narrow roads.
From my experience, it makes U-turns much easier compared to just using the front wheels alone.
When navigating corners on narrow roads, you will definitely notice the significant difference with the all-wheel steering system.
The Volkswagen Touareg 2020 Night Party
The grand launch of the new Touareg took place in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Seoul.
After the presentation, a large curtain opened, signaling the start of the Night Party.
It was an opportunity to sit in and experience the Volkswagen Touareg 2020 model firsthand, and given its popularity, it was receiving a lot of love on stage. Haha!
I enjoyed champagne and various cocktails with my wife while grooving to upbeat music at the Volkswagen Touareg 2020 launch party.
The new Touareg features a 730-watt Dynaudio sound system, promising rich audio quality, though I missed the chance to experience it.
Instead, I enjoyed the lively atmosphere with exciting music at the venue. ^^

As the party atmosphere reached its peak...
The scheduled celebrity performance followed.
I was curious about the performance since the celebrity was not disclosed, and then my favorite solo artist, 'Chungha,' appeared.
With hits like "Snapping," "Rollercoaster," and more, Chungha delivered an electrifying performance.
I knew she was a great dancer, but her live performance was phenomenal!
Last year, a typhoon prevented me from seeing Chungha perform, but now I feel like I can finally erase that disappointment.
I recorded the performance, so I'll be watching it again and again. Haha!
Of course, I wasn't the only one enjoying it! Haha!
As Chungha's performance concluded, the final event was...
the lucky draw event.
Looking back, I often enter lucky draw events, but I seem to have no luck with them.
Maybe it's just my fate, but congratulations to those who won!
The event was hosted by a well-known YouTuber, who is also a former announcer, and she spoke exceptionally well.
I didn't get to take a photo with her since I had to leave right after the event, but it was great to see her as a subscriber.
