This post was created following a test drive opportunity provided by GENESIS KOREA.
Hello, I’m the automotive influencer, Double Look.
At the beginning of May, during the golden holiday, I had the chance to test drive the Genesis G80 Black model for the first time.
I participated in various events, from filming the LIV golf tournament to playing rounds at the golf course.
As someone who personally appreciates the design appeal of the Black Edition, I found the G80 Black not only visually satisfying but also impressive in how it captures attention wherever it goes.
It truly stands out.
Today, since I’m sharing my first test drive experience of the Genesis G80 Black, I will provide a comprehensive overview of its design and driving feel.

The Genesis Black Edition debuted with the G90, followed by the GV80 and GV80 Coupe models, making it the fourth application on the G80 model.
The G80 Black features exclusive Black Edition designs throughout its interior and exterior, garnering praise for its luxurious and unique sensibility that creates a special sedan.
The sports package design has not been released, and only the standard AWD model with the exclusive black design has been made available.
I drove the Genesis G80 Black gasoline turbo 3.5 AWD model, and after reflecting a 3.5% reduction in the individual consumption tax, the price stands at approximately 64,000 USD.
The Genesis G80 Black Edition seems to radiate its most attractive appearance during dusk.
When you observe the front design, you can see the MLA headlamps that were previously applied to the luxury class, along with the sophisticated feel of the double mesh structure of the G-Matric black radiator grille.
The side profile feels more like a stylish coupe sedan than a traditional sedan.
The gasoline turbo 3.5 AWD model features a V6 gasoline engine that delivers a powerful driving performance with a maximum output of 380 ps and a peak torque of 54.0 kg·m.
The automatic 8-speed transmission provides a smooth acceleration experience during acceleration phases, and you can feel the stability during high-speed driving, making it a luxurious sedan.
The handling feels stable, and I never experienced a lack of power while increasing speed.
You can choose from four driving modes: ECO, COMFORT, SPORT, and MY. When selecting the sports mode, you experience an intense exhaust sound along with seats designed to securely hug your waist.
Personally, I’m not a fan of sports mode, but if you find yourself speeding on an open highway, maximizing acceleration might be a good idea.
I wondered how it would be if the sports package design featured a D-cut steering wheel with exclusive Black Edition designs. While I felt a bit disappointed, I appreciate the design's balance, which appeals to those seeking a luxurious sedan without being overly flashy.
The interior features a 27-inch integrated wide display that provides information to the driver with excellent visibility. The G80 Black also showcases real wood garnishing and quilted seats, creating a luxurious interior atmosphere.
Every touchpoint features exclusive black designs, creating a space that feels like a healing environment for those who love black.
The Genesis G80 Black gasoline turbo 3.5 model offers top-notch quality even without additional options, making it feel like a fully-loaded version. Compared to competing imported models in the same class, the design and interior quality stand out significantly.
The specifications indicate a fuel efficiency of 8.2 km/L combined. (City fuel efficiency is 7.1 km/L, highway fuel efficiency is 10.2 km/L)
After driving over 124 miles, I measured the real fuel efficiency at about 8.5 km/L, which is impressive considering the high proportion of urban driving.
If you focus on fuel efficiency driving, you could achieve a combined fuel efficiency of around 9.0 km/L.
I primarily drove with my wife last week, and I recommend experiencing the smart posture assist, which reduces fatigue for both the driver and passenger.
For those who frequently drive long distances, I suggest checking the recommended seating posture and setting it up in advance to reduce fatigue during extended drives.
You can easily control the interior climate system from the driver's seat, and you can also adjust the front passenger seat position.
The Genesis G80 Black supports wireless smartphone integration, but since the navigation system is quite satisfactory, I haven't felt the need to connect.
You can check various information through the display. For example, I asked about the baseball scores that evening, and I could see the scores along with other information ahead of time.
The Genesis G80 Black gasoline turbo 3.5 AWD features a low center of gravity and delivers 580 horsepower, enhancing the driving satisfaction.
The responsiveness when pressing the accelerator was impressive, and I experienced a smooth acceleration without feeling any lack of power.
While I’m not typically fond of black, I understand why the Genesis G80 Black has become a trend as a Black Edition.
The Genesis G80 Black Edition AWD, weighing 4,409 lbs, is a heavy full-option sedan that combines a low center of gravity, powerful performance, and a unique design, making it highly popular.
During my long-term test drive, I enjoyed driving primarily in the urban areas of Seoul, and beyond the luxurious feel of the design, the satisfaction with the gasoline turbo 3.5 engine exceeded my expectations.
With its low body and powerful engine performance, it’s suitable for both owner-driven and chauffeur-driven models. I recommend considering it as a thoughtful gift for your parents.
The G80 Black interior features exclusive black materials and patterns, real wood garnishing, seat leather, and quilted seats, completing a mid-size sedan that competes well with imported cars.
I expect my parents will appreciate the comfortable seating and stylish design. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to leave a comment.
