Today, I’ll share the latest news about the full redesign of Kia’s compact SUV, the Seltos, expected to launch in the second half of 2025, along with anticipated fuel efficiency and various special features.

The Seltos is a compact SUV that you can purchase at an economical price, and it recorded sales of 61,897 units in 2024, making it a bestselling SUV.
Among compact SUV models, it uniquely recorded an average monthly sales figure of over 5,000 units, which is more than double the sales of its competitor, the Kona (25,455 units in 2024).
I frequently use the Kia Seltos for business trips to different regions, as it offers affordable rental rates and practical space utilization.
Just a few years ago, I often recommended the Avante as the first car for new professionals, but with the rise in outdoor activities, including camping, it seems the Seltos has become the preferred choice.
I mainly experienced the base trim of the Seltos as a rental car, and I found the gear shifter positioned between the driver and passenger seats quite bothersome.
The launch of the Seltos full redesign hybrid is confirmed! What is the expected fuel efficiency?
Most SUVs currently on the market offer hybrid models, but concerns that the Seltos might cannibalize sales of the Niro led to the availability of only the gasoline turbo 1.6 and gasoline 2.0 models.
However, to respond to the growing global demand for HEV models, Kia has decided to introduce a hybrid model alongside the full redesign of the Seltos, planning to produce it at both the Gwangju plant and the Hwaseong Plant 2.
This will be the first time that E-AWD is applied in a Hyundai Motor Group vehicle, which is expected to improve fuel efficiency significantly.
E-AWD utilizes an electric motor to drive the rear wheels, enhancing driving stability while also improving fuel efficiency.
The Seltos is expected to be released with higher fuel efficiency than its competitor, the Kona Hybrid (20.8 km/L), with estimates predicting at least 22.0 km/L.
Additionally, as it will switch to the K3 platform, the vehicle’s length is projected to increase to around 14.4 to 14.8 feet, improving space efficiency.
Those who enjoy camping or outdoor activities should look forward to the launch of the Seltos full redesign hybrid in the second half of 2025.
Given that it is already a bestselling model with high sales figures, the addition of a hybrid model seems to be generating significant buzz.
